A wonderful dance festival

+ first memory of Tarnia! Tarnia is the magician king of Maurice and someone that Hilario is super fond of.
+ he's supposed to help Hilario die, but is obviously reluctant. Northerly will have no fucking idea what that's all about, but the feeling in the memory is sad, tired, and very, very old.
+ FESTIVAL STUFF BRIGHT LIGHTS MUSIC DANCING GAMES DELICIOUS FOOD in a magic-medieval setting. Northerly will now be able to recognize things like money and glass windows. Level-up from feral jungle child!
+ Baby's first memory, he's only going to really recall the first festival in any real detail. The others will be like echoes-- It's too much to take in at once this time.

Hilario attends a festival with Tarnia. It celebrates an annual event where the king uses his own magic to charge the citizens' jewels, enabling even non-magicians to use a little magic. Hilario compliments the festival and praises Tarnia as amazing.
Tarnia asks him what he honestly thinks-- Hilario teases at Tarnia's ego ("You think you're superior because you're the king"), but says that Tarnia is a gentle person. Hilario asks if Tarnia is hesitating in fulfilling Hilario's wish to die. Before Tarnia can answer, Hilario tells him "I'm fine. It's already fine."
This is the first festival he's attended, and that one will be remembered most strongly, but this memory will also have instances of later festivals. Decades and decades of attending the same festival every year and watching Tarnia perform his magic. Every year it's amazing.
